Episode 9: Should we be eating octopus?

Octopus numbers have exploded in England. Should we start eating them?

In this week’s podcast episode, we speak to biologist Dr Bryce Stewart from the Marine Biological Association and philosopher Professor Peter Godfrey-Smith, author of Other Minds: the Octopus and the Evolution of Intelligent Life.

With their help, we consider the sustainability of eating octopus, the ethical implications for octopus welfare and the impact on the fishing community.

This follows episode 7, where we asked whether the octopus bloom is a sign of the sixth global extinction.
